Norwalk Senior Center 25th Anniversary Event Branding

ART DIRECTION, DIE-CUT PRINTABLES, EVENT BRANDING, PIN ILLUSTRATION, SWAG BAG & GIVEAWAY ITEMS

With a 25 year milestone around the corner for the Norwalk Senior Center, it was only fitting to create a curated event branding campaign to highlight and celebrate the City’s engaging services, dedicated staff, and connected senior community. In collaboration with the Senior Center Manager and Senior Center Recreation Supervisor, this project went from a simple idea on paper to fun/professional visuals to commemorate and highlight that the Senior Center is more than a building.

Rather than outsource this project, the Senior Center Manager and Recreation Supervisor stayed in house and reached out to help bring their vision to life. As a Communications Specialist in the Public Affairs department, I was thrilled and thankful to tackle on a project to this scale. With that said, notes very early on were the foundation for getting on the right path.

Let the research begin! Includes visuals,
key words, and more 📝

Below is a visual glimpse of how a simple idea came to life through a logo, branding identity, and the cool swag bag that was given out to our fellow seniors.

Brief: Create a designated logo to use across materials and a creative brochure that matches the mid-century modern look and feel. It has to be fun, but professional.

Intro Stuff…(notes)

Here we have the mood board that was used to visually understand how to create artwork look/feel “Mid-century modern” on paper. This included fun color palettes, specific fonts, and unique shapes used during that time.

The evolution of the official Senior Center 25th logo

With the rough sketches nailed down, it was time to move onto the computer and see what actually works and what will not.

The black and white color variations were created on purpose. This was due to figuring out the shading for what could possibly be a one color logo to put on future merch. It also helps to focus on only the artwork itself, rather than only focus on colors.

After a few rounds of feedback from the Senior Center team and upper management, the “chosen” design was filled in with 3 choices of colors to represent mid century modern visually. #3 for the win!! This little guy became the backbone to everything else.

Save the Date Postcard

With the logo completed, it was time to move on to the second deliverable on our list: Save the Date!

In this digital age, our seniors easily preferred paper over electronics.
We made the decision to go the route of a postcard to not only mail out to our sponsors and special guests, but to serve as a keepsake at home to remember the date.

Die-cut tri fold brochure

The brochure was never meant to be your traditional 3 flaps. We wanted to take it a step further and see just how far we could take this. In one of the earlier meetings, I mentioned how about doing a die-cut program? For a visual mockup, I ripped up a meeting agenda. It was well received and from there, it morphed into the final piece we have today.

This was my first time creating a die-cut program so the pressure was on, but that did not stray me from seeing it to completion and working very closely with our print vendor (shoutout to Letty). I even had help from the Creative Coordinator to give me much needed guidance and advice on how to properly setup the file and everything (thank you Jimothy!)

5 Piece Puzzle Pin Set

Never made pins before, but Jimothy (Creative Coordinator) helped me sort out what it means to use Pantone colors in the color books!

Aside from that fun fact, we wanted these pins to showcase what sets Norwalk’s Senior Center apart from the rest. We landed on Dancing, Case Management, Excursions, and Nutrition. These were all four key services that have played an integral role over the past 25 years at the Senior Center.

Final shots & seeing everything in motion

On Saturday, January 17, 2026, the Norwalk Senior Center held its 25th Anniversary celebration with special tickets for seniors, a collage video showcasing footage from past years, and a commemorative Swag Bag to take home! Here’s to 25 years!
